March of the Harp: Lyon & Healy

Founded in 1864 by George Washburn Lyon and Patrick J. Healy in Chicago.
Lyon & Healy produced its first harp, the Model 21 # 501, in 1889.
Lyon had a sincere love of Music and the young, ambitious Healy had an entrepreneurial nature.
It was intended to improve an instrument that the company already considered to be excellent.
It was Healy’s promise that took centre stage for ten years after groundbreaking innovations in engineering and craftsmanship.
His words express Lyon and Healy’s most basic motivation:
“Let’s build a harp that the owner will no longer have to worry about; let’s build a harp that will travel the world without a screw coming loose”.

For 125 years, Lyon & Healy artisans have maintained Healy’s commitment to old traditional principles while embracing new world innovations.
