PianoDisc Piano Systems: Player and Silent Systems

PianoDisc is an American company that has been making player (self-playing) and silent (quiet practice) systems for acoustic pianos since 1988. The systems are retrofitted to new or existing grand and upright pianos: the piano can play itself or be played silently with headphones, and with the system switched off it remains a normal acoustic piano. Kuğu Müzik is the authorised PianoDisc dealer in Türkiye and installs the systems.

What defines PianoDisc:

  • Suits every piano: Can be retrofitted to almost any acoustic grand or upright piano
  • Live performance: Real piano sound with up to 1,024 levels of key expression
  • Silent practice: Practise with headphones without changing the feel of the keys, thanks to optical sensors
  • Music library: The iQ Player app and a PianoDisc archive of thousands of recordings
  • Invisible installation: With the Low Profile option, the components stay inside the piano

Player Systems

A player system makes the piano play itself using solenoids placed under the keys and pedals; the sound comes from the piano’s strings, not from speakers. For details, see the piano player system page.

Silent Systems

A silent system stops the hammers before they strike the strings at the flick of a switch and sends what you play to headphones as a digital piano sound. For details, see the piano silent system page.

PDS 350 Speaker

The orchestral, vocal and other instrumental parts of recordings played by the player system are brought into the room by the PianoDisc PDS 350 active speakers. The 70 W speakers have separate volume, bass and treble controls and automatic on/off.

Installation and Trying in the Showroom

We install PianoDisc systems in new pianos or in our customers’ existing pianos, either with our own team or with an authorised PianoDisc technician. Our Ataşehir showroom has pianos fitted with both player and silent systems, so you can hear and try both systems in person. For information and appointments, get in touch with us.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a player system and a silent system?

A player system makes the piano play itself, while a silent system mutes the piano and lets you practise silently with headphones. With options such as the Prodigy II QuietTime package, both can be used together on the same piano.

Can PianoDisc be fitted to my existing piano?

Yes. PianoDisc systems can be fitted to almost any new or second-hand acoustic grand or upright piano; installation does not damage the structure of the piano.

Where is the installation done?

Depending on the piano’s condition, installation is carried out at home or in the workshop by an authorised technician; contact us for timings and details.

What music can be played with PianoDisc?

The iQ Player app includes free songs, and thousands of recordings in classical, jazz, pop and many other genres can be bought from the PianoDisc music store.
